Compass, Inc. a progressive, non-profit organization that supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is seeking a highly skilled, self-starter with a demonstrated record of case management, community engagement development, and innovative thinking for the position of Community Engagement Coordinator.  The Community Engagement Coordinator is an exciting position that provides a key role in supporting the mission of the Community Engagement and Employment Department to engage people in their communities in meaningful ways. The Community Engagement Coordinator is supervised by the Director of Community Engagement and Employment Services.  Responsibilities include supervision of CE Manager and CE Coaches, oversight of direct services and ensuring staff are engaging people in their communities in a meaningful way.

Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Supervise and assist staff with creating meaningful weekly schedules that create unique community engagement opportunities/conversations in the community.
  • Model meaningful community engagement and provide staff management/support for meaningful community engagement.
  • Comply with requirements set forth by Developmental Disabilities Administration for Community Engagement Services.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding and dedication to Compass’s mission. Actively promote and represent organization’s philosophy through all interactions with both internal and external customers.
  • Community mapping/exploring with individuals and staff; modeling of explorative conversations to learn about the person supported.
  • Collaborate with Community Engagement Developer with building and/or maintaining relationships with community partners; assisting people supported and CE Coaches with scheduling/participating in desired activities.
  • Monitoring of community engagement teams, their efforts, review of daily attendance and data integrity in internal database
  • Documentation review for billing; knowledge of LTSS billing system and DDA billing.
  • Complete PCP workflow duties as assigned and timely monitor PCP collaborating with PCP team to ensure compliance with DDA guidelines.
  • Provide supervision, coaching and guidance to CE Coaches, holding biweekly 1:1 meetings and completing performance evaluations and providing feedback as needed.
  •  Onboard new staff, providing training on individual specific goals, and facilitation of community walks.
  • Manage and review data collection for ongoing programmatic, as well as individual-level history, milestones, and ongoing progress toward goals and outcomes; including care tracker notes, incident reports, attendance/billing and other documentation as required by the program.

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Proven track record of success in community engagement, establishing relationships with community businesses, employers, and Civic organizations, and providing innovative supports for people with disabilities.
  • A creative approach to utilizing individualized and customized supports in developing Person Centered Plans and community engagement plans that match the interests, dreams, desires, and strengths of individuals with disabilities.
  • Knowledgeable with POMs and Coach Approach mindsets and CESP certified.
  • Strong leadership, supervisory and organizational skills
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent coaching and customer service skills and ability to work effectively with family members/guardians as well as state and local governing authorities.
  • A keen interest in improving the quality of life for people supported by Compass, Inc.

Qualifications: Minimum of two years’ experience in a lead administrative role in the area of supporting people with disabilities with an emphasis on community engagement. Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field or comparable combination of experience and education.  Must be CESP certified as well have completed POMs and Coach Approach training or able to become certified within first 6 months of employment.  Course needed for certification to be paid by Compass.   Successful candidate must have strong programmatic skills in the area of community engagement, excellent computer, communication and writing skills; a proven track record of developing Person-Centered Plans focused on day supports (customized employment and or meaningful day activities); strong collaborative skills and the ability to marshal and coordinate internal and external resources to meet program objectives.  Valid state driver’s license required with a good driving record (subject to Company approval).  Ability to pass Company background check and is also required. 

Compensation and Work Conditions: 60-65k annual salary depending on qualifications.  Eligible for Compass’ full-time benefit package which includes health, vision, dental, short-term disability, life insurance, 401K retirement with generous employer match, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO.)
