Compass, Inc. is a progressive, non-profit organization located in Beltsville, MD that supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.   We are seeking one full time or two part time highly skilled, self-starters to fill the position of Behavioral Support Clinician.  This position is a salaried position with Compass to provide development, consultation and staff training for person-centered behavioral support assessments and plans for individuals who, without such supports, are experiencing or likely to experience difficulty at home or in the community as the result of behavioral, social or emotional issues. Behavioral assessments are based on principles of person-centered thinking, trauma-informed care and functional behavior assessment and consultation services consist of initial implementation of behavior support plans to include staff training.  This position is full time (40 hours a week) or could be filled by two part time clinicians each working 20-25 hours a week.   Responsibilities include:      

  • Collaborate to determine caseload capacity
  • Review potential cases, ask questions, and determine if it is someone, we can support
  • Sign referrals for new plans and annual revisions
  • Complete an initial assessment or consultation within a month of the referral
  • Complete the Behavior Assessment within a month of the consultation
  • Complete the Behavior Plan within 3 months of the consultation
  • Provide data sheet for tracking targeted behaviors
  • Complete initial staff training
  • Provide additional guidance as needed
  • Oversee implementation
  • Review behavior data for progress
  • Respond to behavioral incidents
  • Update/revise Behavior Plans annually and more often as needed.
  • Update the Behavior Plan as needed
  • Retrain staff at least annually
  • Meet with persons served in their target setting at least 2 times a year
  • Provide recommendations for persons served

Qualifications:  Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field.   Must be licensed as a BCBA, LCPC, or LCSW-C.  A minimum of three years working with persons with behavioral issues and developmental disabilities Knowledge and demonstration of skills in applied behavioral analysis, positive behavior interventions and supports, and evidence-based practices.   The ideal candidate will also have the following attributes:

Work Conditions:  This position is hybrid between remote (but local) and in person work.   Due to need to occasionally attend in-person meetings/staff training, successful candidate should reside in the local area.
