Employment Manager
Compass, Inc. a progressive, non-profit organization that supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is seeking a highly skilled, self-starter with a demonstrated record of case management, job development, and innovative thinking for the position of Employment Manager. The Employment Manager is an exciting position that provides a key role in supporting the mission of the Community Engagement and Employment Department which operates with an Employment First philosophy, seeking employment as the first option for people and providing opportunities for traditional supported, customized, and self- employment. The Employment Manager is supervised by the Employment Coordinator and responsibilities include supervision of CE coaches and job coaches, provision of direct support for employment services, and assisting with engaging individuals in employment opportunities in their community on a daily basis. It is anticipated that this position will work primarily in the community providing direct supports and team leadership 30 hours a week and spend 10 hours a week completing administrative tasks. The Employment Manager is also responsible for Post-Employment Support provided to individuals and ultimate success of the individuals on their caseload. “Success” is defined by the person and his/her team and based on what matters in their lives.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
- If appropriate, assist the individual to enroll with DORS. Maintain open communication and provide necessary and timely documentation to DORS counselor.
- Engage individuals and establishes trusting collaborative relationships with job seekers, their families, and support team including life coach (Direct care residential staff).
- Complete person-centered vocational profile for each individual. Update profile to include each new meaningful life experience.
- Determine a list of contacts that relate to the people’s interests, skills.
- Monitor Individuals progress, identify and provide additional supports including onsite coaching as needed in addition to or in lieu of natural supports
- Support People in their pursuit of employment opportunities, including resume building, interview preparation, and job searches.
- Manage and arrange staffing schedules for Community Development Services (CDS) and employment programs to maintain seamless service delivery.
- Ensure all tasks related to outgoing job supports are accurately marked as completed, maintaining up-to-date records.
- Attend Person-Centered Planning (PCP) meetings on behalf of coordinators when they are unavailable, ensuring consistent advocacy and communication.
- Accurately fill out and submit Service Implementation Plans (SIP) and Competitive Integrated Employment (CIE) forms in a timely manner.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration among staff members to ensure cohesive support for individuals.
- Upload and maintain accurate transportation records to facilitate individuals' access to community and employment activities.
- Engage in comprehensive discovery activities to understand individuals' strengths, interests, and support needs, informing personalized support plans.
- Attend and contribute to Compass-related events focused on Community Development Services (CDS) and employment initiatives.
- Develop and sustain positive relationships with employers to create and maintain employment opportunities for individuals.
- Hold regular one-on-one sessions with the employment coordinator to align on strategies and address any challenges in service delivery
- Ensure sustained success in employment and community engagement activities.
The ideal candidate should possess:
- A creative approach to utilizing individualized and customized supports in developing Person Centered Plans, employment plans and business plans that match the interests, dreams, desires and strengths of individuals with disabilities
- Strong organizational and supervisory skills.
- Excellent communications skills, both oral and written
- Excellent coaching and customer service skills and ability to work effectively with family members/guardians as well as state and local governing authorities
- A keen interest in improving the quality of life for the individuals supported by Compass, Inc.
Qualifications: Minimum of two years’ experience in the area of vocational services with an emphasis on supported or customized employment. Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field or comparable combination of experience and education. Must be CESP certified or able to become certified within first 90 days of employment. Course needed for certification to be paid by Compass. Successful candidate must have strong programmatic skills in the area of supported employment, excellent computer, communication and writing skills; a proven track record of developing Person-Centered Plans focused on customized employment and or meaningful day activities; strong collaborative skills and the ability to marshal and coordinate internal and external resources to meet program objectives.
Compensation and Work Conditions: 55-60K annually depending on qualifications. Eligible for Compass’ full-time benefit package which includes health, vision, dental, short-term disability, life insurance, 401K retirement with generous employer match, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO.)
