Compass provides direct support and assistance to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and their families in order to facilitate personal growth and independence.
Operating since 1996, Compass currently provides Residential, Community Supported Living Arrangements (CSLA), Customized Employment, and Day Services to more than 140 men and women who reside or work primarily in Montgomery and Prince George’s County, Maryland. In our Residential Program, individuals live in single family homes nestled in established neighborhoods with other adults who are of similar ages, interests, and support needs.
Hours and types of staffing support vary, and are based on the individual needs of the people who reside in each home. Some of our homes are organized to support 24-hour care, with staff who are awake at night, while other homes are organized to provide less hours of support for individuals who are more independent. Individuals supported through the Community Supported Living Arrangements (CSLA) program typically live in their own homes or in the homes of their parents, and receive in-home support provided by Compass Direct Support Professionals.
Types of support may vary, depending on the needs of the individual and his/her family. In our Day and Customized Employment Programs, Compass offers an array of service options. Individuals may choose to participate in job readiness training and receive linkage support for internships, direct employment/worksite support, and entrepreneurial education. If an individual prefers to have more recreational opportunities in his/her day, we also offer artist workshops and training, physical fitness and exercise support, and other individual-directed, meaningful daytime activities.
