Responsibilities and Expectations

This position is an integral part of the Accounting Department, reports to the Controller, and concentrates primarily on performing a variety of statistical tasks and clerical duties required to prepare payroll data for processing by a payroll processing company.  Incumbent must respond to inquiries regarding salary actions and changes in compensation, as well as prepare and maintain various statistical and payroll records.  Incumbent may perform analyses and review of data, and develop reports for supervisor’s review.  Incumbent will also serve as back up for accounts receivables and payables.  This position may require additional hours beyond regular work hours to ensure deadlines are met.

The Ideal Candidate Should Possess the Following:

  • Experience processing payroll for 400+ employees using ADP
  • Experience with time and attendance software, preferably ADP enhanced Time and Attendance
  • Significant knowledge of payroll regulations including wage and hour laws, benefit compliance and taxability, payroll tax laws, and reporting requirements
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong clerical skills
  • Strong computer skills including MS Excel, MS Outlook, and MS Word
  • Prior experience with MIP/Sage Accounting Software
  • Experience in Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivables and bank reconciliations
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks at once and ensure proper follow through as needed
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with diverse groups of people
  • Experience working with a non-profit organization
  • A high level of commitment to take initiative and maintain a positive “can-do” attitude
  • A high level of personal accountability, integrity, and ethical standards
  • Qualifications:  Associate in Arts Degree in Accounting or Business Administration; minimum of three (3) years’ experience in payroll/accounting with responsibility for payroll processing, bank reconciliations, and account reconciliation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation:  $41,000 - 43,000 depending on qualifications plus overtime pay.
