Job Summary and Responsibilities

This position is an integral part of the Accounting Department and dually reports to the Controller and the Director of Finance.   Duties include generating state and county revenue billing, completing general ledger and journal entries, bank reconciliations, reconciliation of other accounts, and assisting with preparation of financial statements.  This position also assists the Payroll Specialist with payroll processing as needed and assumes responsibility for processing payroll in the absence of the Payroll Specialist.

Ideal Candidate Should Possess the Following:

•Highly motivated to assume increasingly progressive level of responsibilities within the Accounting Department

•Significant experience in the principles and application of GAAP

•Strong ability to prepare concise and accurate analysis

•Knowledge of budgeting and financial statement preparation

•Prior payroll experience, especially for a large organization.  Experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred

•Experience with non-profit organizations especially in the social services field

•Strong computer skills including expertise in MS Excel and familiarity with MIP Abila Fund Accounting software 

•Strong administrative skills and clerical skills

•Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks at once and ensure proper follow through as needed

•Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

•Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with diverse groups of people

•Excellent attention to detail

•A high level of commitment to take initiative and maintain a positive “can-do” attitude

•A high level of personal accountability, integrity, and ethical standards


Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or closely related field required; Two – three years prior accounting or financial management experience as well as prior payroll experience required.  Prior non-profit accounting experience strongly preferred.
